Virtual Carving Meetup! May 3rd, 1PM AST.

While carving wood can be a very mindful solitary practice, it is also incredibly rewarding to do with other people. The act of sharing in a creative process with other humans seems to have some sort of ancient magic attached to it, I always feel extra inspired and motivated to make things when other people are making things nearby.

A fun opportunity to join a shared experience of carving wood, this gathering is a relaxed space to be creative, chat, and pass some time together.

There is no pressure to talk or be all up in the screen, long group silences are okay. I just think it would be cool if your camera can at least see what you are workin on (even if the rest of you is not in the screen).

Who?
New and advanced carvers welcome! But please note: this is not a workshop, carvers should already know the basics of knife safety and carving before attending.

When?
May 3rd, 2020 starting at 1PM Atlantic time (Halifax, Canada)…. It’s May already? What?!

I’ll be carving for a couple hours, so please feel free to come and go as you wish. I will have to restart the meeting after 40 minutes so see info on that below.

Where?
Zoom platform – since I only have a free account, my meeting time maxes out at 40 minutes. This means that I will have to start a new meeting that we can all hop over too just before the time runs out for us. But the following link will get us started and I can share the new link from there.

Meeting Link (Active from 1:00 to 1:40 PM AST)

If you don’t have the Zoom app on your phone or computer, make sure to download it before 1:00 to get the most out of our time (it’s free)! You can run Zoom through your computer web browser with limited features, but it suggests downloading the app for best results. Also, you do not need to create an account to attend meetings, only to host them.

Is your knife a bit dull? Check out my video on knife sharpening!

Interested in upgrading your knife? If you are in the Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia and would like to pick up a nice carving knife before this, please see this page and contact me ASAP so we can get you set up in time! Additionally, here is my recent video on knife selection and safety to help you choose the knife for you.

Please share it with other carver folk!
See a tomorrow!

Steve
